Wizzard Software and its subsidiary, MedivoxRx Technologies, has announced that Rex-The Talking Bottle is now available through Wizzard’s on-line Quixtar Partner Store. Quixtar, Inc. is the #1 web retailer in the Health & Beauty category.

Rex-The Talking Bottle is an innovative assistive device that allows users to « hear » recorded medication instructions. Using a special recording device, instructions are recorded into the base of the bottle. Instructions can then be « read » out loud by simply pushing the button located on the side of the bottle.

Completely portable, disposable and easy to use, Rex is perfect for the visually impaired and cognitively impaired, or anyone who can’t read or understand their medication label instructions.

Now available for purchase through Quixtar.com are the Rex Starter Kits for personal use and Rex Refill Kits. The Rex Starter Kit contains 3 bottles, a recording unit with a microphone that makes recording possible by simply pressing a button and speaking, a power supply, and easy-to-follow instructions. The Refill Kit contains three additional bottles that are used in conjunction with the recorder included with the Rex Starter Kit.

Independent Business Owners powered by Quixtar’s I-commerce business model generated record sales of $1.1 billion for the fiscal year ended Aug. 31, 2004, up $65 million from the previous year. In addition, IBO’s created $68.5 million in revenues for Quixtar’s online Partner Stores and Services, up $10.2 million from fiscal 2003.

« MedivoxRx is excited about the opportunity to team with Quixtar, its many IBO’s and its large group of loyal customers, » said Gene Franz General Manager, MedivoxRx Technologies. « We feel that the wide reach and personal touch Quixtar IBO’s bring to the table is a perfect fit for expanding our distribution into doctor’s offices and medical facilities across the country. In addition to prescription medication, end users can also use the Talking Pill Bottle for vitamins and other healthy supplements. »

Wizzard also announced today that they have launched a new « Talking Products » partner store through Quixtar, featuring products that were designed to make life easier. Items, such as the talking alarm clock, are ideal for those who have difficulty using conventional, every-day items due to vision or cognitive impairments.

Other items such as the talking blood pressure monitor, pedometer, and talking kitchen scale can help those who must maintain a healthy lifestyle, but have difficulties reading small print. These and other talking products, including the Rex-The Talking Bottle line, are all available now through Quixtar.com.

The Wizzard Partner Store can be found under Health & Personal Care on the Partner Stores and Services page of the Quixtar site. It can also be found by doing a search for « Wizzard ».

Talking products will become more of a necessity as the United States‘ population ages and eye-sight fails. According to Lighthouse International, 17% of persons age 45 and older report some form of vision impairment. This represents 16.5 million persons. By the year 2010, when all baby boomers are age 45 and older, this number will increase to 20 million.

Talking products also aide the growing number of Americans stricken with Alzheimer’s Disease, reported by the Alzheimer’s Disease Education & Referral Center to currently be 4.5 million. That number is expected to increase by 70 percent over the next 25 years.
