JAPAN: New Nutritional Food Supplement for Elderly

Terumo announced on December 5 that it has launched Terumeal PG Soft, a new item in its nutritional food supplement series Terumeal, targeting hospitals and nursing-care facilities across Japan.


The new product, which is a yogurt-flavored semisolid meal, contains a balanced blend of proteins and carbohydrates. It is ideal for the nutritional fortification of the elderly who are bedridden or have difficulty in chewing.


The product comes in two types: 24 packs (200g each) and 18 packs (267g each) per container. They are each priced at 7,200 yen ($60). Terumo is aiming for first-year sales 300 million yen ($2.5 mil).
