New Phone Helps with Hearing Loss

Calling family and friends could be more memorable than ever for millions suffering from a hearing loss. Clarity®, a division of Plantronics, Inc., and the nation’s leading supplier of telephones for the Hard of Hearing community, has released the Clarity C410 just in time for the holidays. The cordless C410 is specifically designed to help those with mild to moderate hearing loss more easily communicate using a telephone.

The Clarity C410 looks similar to a typical cordless telephone, but is equipped with Clarity® Power(TM) technology which amplifies sounds that are frequently missed by those with a hearing loss. Standard amplified telephones typically amplify all sounds during a conversation making it difficult for someone with a hearing loss to decipher between high and low frequencies. Clarity Power is the first technology in the telecommunications industry to go beyond standard volume control assistance by allowing a user to control the high frequency sounds based on the degree of his or her hearing loss.

« The C410 is the ideal solution for individuals who are suffering from hearing loss and have difficulty understanding conversations on the telephone, » said Carsten Trads, president of Clarity. « We are delighted to make this telephone available in time for the holiday season so more people may communicate clearly with their family and loved ones across the country and world. »

The Clarity C410 and all Clarity products are endorsed by The EAR Foundation, a national nonprofit organization that promotes pioneering advances in the treatment of hearing loss. The EAR Foundation recognizes the quality and benefits of Clarity products and recommends that those with hearing loss consider Clarity products as a healthy solution for their hearing needs. A recent study conducted by Clarity and the EAR Foundation found that nearly half of the 76 million baby boomers in the U.S. suffer from some degree of hearing loss.

The Clarity C410 features a bright visual ringer, a large lighted dial pad, 10 memory keys and 3 one touch programmable emergency speed dial buttons. The phone uses a 3.6 volt 700mAhr NiCd rechargeable 3 cell (AA type) battery and requires a modular phone jack and a standard 120-volt outlet. The C410 is also hearing aid compatible.

The Clarity C410 may be purchased exclusively at Radio Shack locations across the United States for under $60. For more information about Clarity and its products designed to improve the lives of Hard of Hearing people, call 1-800-426-3738 or visit www.clarityproducts.com.
